My 1971 gadgets?

Can anybody help me figure out my the history of the altimeter, its a cool lil gauge style that actually works.

Can you give a close up pic?, what does the small writing say?. You have a nicely loaded spid, but not an OE option from GM, maybe JC Whitney.

Like cleszkie says, it tells you how high you are. I guess this truck came from a mountain region?

My area, 'basically sea level', the gauge would have to read in feet, not thousands. Maybe the PO was a pilot?
