rear air bags

OK, got the rear axles swapped to go 6 to 5 lug. While under there, I was looking for a place to mount a compressor and can for an air bag system. I got the '65 with bags in place but manually filled. I want to be able to jump in, turn the key and get the rear inflated to the desired height and go. Looks to me like I could hang the components from the bed wood to one side of the drive-shaft but inside of a radius rod. Is this a mount location that others have used? Also, looking for recommendations for a good simple system. Thanks.

If you're not running a spare in the factory location, behind the gas tank is a great place. Another is outside of the frame rails, between the frame and body, if you're not running your exhaust outside the frame rails. Those seem to be the two most common locations.

Thanks, Mike. Someone welded in the super heavy duty tow package on my rig which did affect the spare tire mount. I will look back there. Gonna send you a PM with a brake question, if you don't mind.

I ain't very smart about air bags. If I just want something to adjust the rear end height for any given load, would a basic package just be an air compressor, storage tank and a dash controller to keep the bags filled at a set pressure? With a basic system like that, could I then add auto height sensors later? Thanks in advance.

Been reading up. Maybe I do not need a storage tank for my purposes. But, I sure do not like the idea of running the air hose up to the cab then back to the bags. Can anyone suggest a system with an electrical gauge to maintain the air pressure?
