Re: Wideband: What are you guys using with HPT?
I run an Autometer for onboard monitoring and general logs. HPT doesn't list its transfer protocol but an AEM protocol can be modified to make it work. Its accurate enough to be safe, but its not dead-nuts when compared 1v1 to more expensive units.
Innovates are $$ but very nice. Instead of using the HP Pro onboard logging, you use the Innovate logworks and sync and import your 02 logs against the tune. EXTREMELY accurate, its what we use for dyno tunes and our personal car street tunes. AEM's are pretty good, though I've only run them as a gauge and not logged off of them. HPt supports transfer for AEM and Innovate directly. Bosch and Autometers can also be run with the modified transfer protocol.

Re: Wideband: What are you guys using with HPT?
I've just started getting into this. I have an Innovate LC-2. I was just reading up and learning what I could with 2.24. There is a ton of good info out there to learn 2.24. 3.0 came out and I'm struggling.

Re: Wideband: What are you guys using with HPT?
im running the AEM Uego with my setup. i dont have the pro version of hp tuners and am logging afr through the A/C pressure sensor port. Pretty easy to do and makes tuning a hell of a lot easier, mine is permanently hardwired.

Re: Wideband: What are you guys using with HPT?
Its an open input PID on the ECM. Its one of a few existing PID's that can be modified to monitor systems other than their intended target (depending on which ECM you have, and what equipment is being retained). If your not running A/C, then the A/C pressure port is an open channel.
So long as the channel being used is able to transmit the type of data you want, then that channel can be set to a custom function and relabeled to log or display that data on a gauge. (However that channel could not do something like control an injector, since it doesn't have any interface with the injector drivers.)

Re: Wideband: What are you guys using with HPT?
thanks fellers. currently leaning towards the PLX DM-6 SM-AFR (link below) - no gage, HPT interface datalogging only.
Any negatives or positives you guys know about and care to share? Def gonna give the Innovate LC-2 a harder look. Price wise it's a wash. thanks! http://www.ebay.com/itm/171569130252...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT |

Re: Wideband: What are you guys using with HPT?
That says its using the Bosch sensor, which is a decent one to have. Only a few companies actually make the sensors. Bosch is fairly common and the sensor itself is reliable and less expensive to replace (they do go bad just like a normal car o2).
There are a few cheaper widebands that use one of the Chinese-brand sensors, which don't have a common-style plug and can't be replaced as easily. IIRC, Innovate sources a different sensor that is arguable the highest quality. The sensors in most of their products are certified for on-road and government standard testing equivalents. Does this matter to you? Probably not, but if for some reason it does, then they are "the" option. Were you using the Hp Pro, or logging through an external device or Ngauge?

Re: Wideband: What are you guys using with HPT?
Both plx and innovates (at least the LC2 model) use the same Bosch LSU 4.9 sensor.
I will be using HPT Pro. |

Re: Wideband: What are you guys using with HPT?
I asked my tuner about it, and here is what he had to say
I have one of those and it's lasted longer than an AEM or Innovate I had before. Jim

Re: Wideband: What are you guys using with HPT?
Back in the day I used to run an Innovate LC1....total piece of garbage...used to lose it's cal info on occasion among other problems.
Then I moved to an Innovate LM1. Worked pretty decent...much better than the LC1. On my megasquirt setup, I used the AEM UEGO to feedback wideband data realtime to the ecu. Never had a single problem with it. The AEM is what I'd suggest. Pretty inexpensive too.

Re: Wideband: What are you guys using with HPT?
I use the AEM UEGO as well. I do like it. I too would suggest it.

Quote:
If your using pro, then ya you should have the (6-wire?) interface on the side of the box. You should be able to use pretty much any wideband so long as it uses the normal wiring. I've used the LM's and the MTX, and they worked nicely. I didn't own them so I can really comment on value for $ on those.

Re: Wideband: What are you guys using with HPT?
I had a ton of issues in my last build with the LC-1, spent more time chasing a moving target with voltage offsets than actually using it for what it was for. I swapped to a newer LC-2 and it was much better. I am with Wasted though, the AEM UEGO never gave me any problems.

Re: Wideband: What are you guys using with HPT?
Thanks for all the input guys. Also talked with a friend who tunes for a living and based on his advice I pulled the trigger on the Innovative Motorsports LC-2.
Amazon.com: Innovate Motorsports (3877) LC-2... Will report back once i get my feet wet. |
