adapt old style valve covers to LS motor
Does anyone know where a guy can find adapters to bolt a early style chevy valve cover to a LS motor valve cover. I am looking to cover the coils with a old valve cover. Any leads.

Re: adapt old style valve covers to LS motor
Is this what your looking for? Why would anyone want a LSx engine to look like a SBC? That's like saying, I want my hot wife to look like an ugly woman. I hope not to offend the ugly women out there.

Re: adapt old style valve covers to LS motor
My simple fix was installed some 1/4 x 20 small bolts in the coil brackets and mounted my motor cover should work for valve covers too I would think.
You can see the right side front bolt and lock nut in this picture I have one on the left back side also.

Re: adapt old style valve covers to LS motor
Yes dec010974 Those are to replace the factory valve covers and remote locate the coils. I just do not have the room on the frame anywhere to remote the coils. looking to install a set on a LS motor that is in a 32 Ford coupe. Trying to stick with the 60's theme.
Does any one know where to buy a adapter. the adapter nests over the LS valve cover and allows the old style valve cover to cover the coils. Vic |

Re: adapt old style valve covers to LS motor
Hey solidaxle Those will look cool on that motor ? My problem is I can not remote mount the coils anywhere in my engine conpartment , due to the fact that in my 32 Ford coupe there is no place to put the coils. So I had seen where a guy has just made some type of mounting brackets to accept the old style valve covers over the coils similar like mongocanfly but with small block chevy valve covers

Will keep looking . nsb29 had thought about remoteing the coils and with the size of under the dash there is not a lot of room for them. Thank you guys for the suggestions Vic |

Re: adapt old style valve covers to LS motor
You could do the edelbrock coil covers. They look similar to BBC covers. Mine have had the Edelbrock logo shaved off

Re: adapt old style valve covers to LS motor
On the edelbrock covers you have to use a certain coil from a car..the truck coils won't work..not sure which engine you have.I bought a set and they wouldn't work..so I just made my own.

Re: adapt old style valve covers to LS motor
Vic, another option is the Holley coil covers.
Also, depending on the look you are going for, Wegner Automotive in Wisconsin has a valve cover with coil cover combination. They can machine the top however you want...I think. Solid, that cover looks good. Do you have a build thread going on the Corvette? |

Good point. I didn't find that out until after I bought them from another member.

Re: adapt old style valve covers to LS motor
Here's another option
Amazon.com: TSP LS1/LS6 Fabricated Aluminum Coil... I ordered a set of these, they were really nice but would hit my firewall. So they didn't work for me. If you have the space they're less expensive than the Edelbrocks. |

Re: adapt old style valve covers to LS motor
As mentioned that my LS motor is in a 1932 Ford coupe. The engine compartment is real small. That is why I am looking for a retro valve cover adapter to bolt directly to the top of the original LS cover.

Re: adapt old style valve covers to LS motor
bpatrol , do those valve covers mount over the ignition coils. If so that is what I am looking for. I am not looking for the adapters that replace the LS valve covers.
Thanks for the help Vic |

Re: adapt old style valve covers to LS motor
they do not mount over the ignition coils they replace the ls covers and you remote mount the coils. it really is the cleanest look on the cheap . especially if space is a concern.
if u are simply looking to cover the coils ,holley and edelbrock make a cover as well as ebay variants. but in my opinion they look out of proportion and big. wegner and billet specialties make an all in one cover thats a work of art but it will be well over a grand .....for valve covers..good luck either way phillip |
