Re: 1973 K20 Build Thread

I've had a Champion aluminum big block radiator laying around for a couple years and finally got around to installing it. A bit wider and taller compared to my original 350 sbc radiator. Shroud will have to be cut/modified to fit. I'll have to fab/buy some brackets. Will use without for now. Pics will follow.

Re: 1973 K20 Build Thread

This has been a great thread to follow.

I have a 76 K20 and plan to address many of the items you covered here.

Right now I just have to tie up a few loose ends to go and get it inspected. Still haven't resolved the E-brake issue as I will now have to modify it due to the lift, but I've driven the truck around the block a few times, got a little cocky and drove it to the gas station, too.

I tossed the idea around on what tires to get for months. I did not want the run-of-the-mill 33X12.50 BFG "standard issue" tire. I wanted my truck to look a little different, and I wanted a skinny, not-too-tall tire. I have always liked the look of the old Ford Hi-boys and that is the look I wanted to duplicate all along. I wanted some room between the wells and the tires.

I really like the Firestone Transforce A/T in a 235/85/16 size (about 32 inches), so that is what I eventually got. I love the way it looks...

there is a guy, "GMCGRIM" on this site that is making these out of aluminum, I bought a set from him, they great

I put in new fuel lines from the pump along with a glass fuel filter. I'm a big proponent of glass filters. Very helpful when diagnosing. You can also see a new intake heater hose fitting I got from the good ol' "Help" section @ Oreilly's for $5.49. Much better than the $11.59 they want for it from Classic Industries.
do not use the glass fuel filter, seems like a good idea, i used them too until i had one split down the side and was spraying gas like a fan all over the engine, dont know how it didnt catch fire, i will never use another one
