1964 GMC LS swap question.
Ok all you 60-66 c10/1000 guys that have swapped over to the LS. My motor mounts are in the stock rear potions. When you swapped over to the LS did you move your mounts forward on the frame to the other hole? I am using the stock 64 mounts when I had the 350 in it all fit well.

Re: 1964 GMC LS swap question.
I think I got it figured out. With the mounts I got and the adapter I have the stock location will work and I can use my mounts to move it forward just a little. Thanks anyway.

FWIW, I did move mine to the front hole and then have plates with a setback. My engine has around 3/4" firewall clearance which is IMO pretty ideal.

Re: 1964 GMC LS swap question.
Ok i got the 06 5.3/4l60e in last week and running. Now ive got a few question/issues.
1. My speedo is going a little crazy. Like it's moving when i'm not. I did put a new speed sensor in before i started it up because the other was smashed. I think maybe it is defective so i will be putting another one in tomorrow. 2. When i start it revs up. But takes a little bit to come down. Then when i go to put it in gear it revs up also. Then stays reved up a little bit. I drive to the corner of my block and stop and that's when it finally slows down. But not till i'm stopped for a second or two. After it warms up to about 150 i do not have this problem. 3. I keep getting a p0174 code. Bank 2 lean.

And a few more. I have since moved the MAF to the center of the intake tube.

Re: 1964 GMC LS swap question.
Got my lean codes figured out. It helps when you tighten the collectors on the headers. I had them just over hand tight and i forgot to tell the the exhaust shop they where not tight. oh well. Drove it on a 100 mile round trip yesterday. Ran 2000 rpm, 70 mph, temp stayed 200, oil pressure stayed 50 psi, and volts stayed at 13.5 the whole way. I got 15 mpg with a brick on wheels and a 20 mph cross wind. I'd like to have seen a little better mpg but i think it was not to bad.
As far as my speedo problem. It's a dolphin/shark gauges. and i've read i just need to hook it to the vss and not worry about having it hooked to the ecm. I'll try that and hopefully it will stop jumping so much.

Re: 1964 GMC LS swap question.
I tryed to hook it up directly to the vss. And when I put it in gear not moving just put it in gear. It jumped all over the place. And I did follewed the directions to set it right and still jumped. So I went back to the computer out put. Only jumps when I'm under 10mph. So I'll live with that till I can figure something out. Above 10mph and she reads fine. Did notice the other day that my temp gauge jumped 10 degrees when I turned on my headlights! That was a bad ground. Fixed it works great now. I'm happy with the dolphin/shark (mine are the shark) gauges but just wish speedo didn't jump around under 10mph.
On a side not I've put about 500 miles on the LS swap and I'll say I'm happy I did it finally. Today I had to run the company store in the next town over about 51 mile round trip. Got 18 mpg going there and back. That old 350 never had a chance at that mpg! Lol
