Re: Old Blue
This weekend, I decided to try and get some dynamat inside the doors and refresh the PW and PDL wiring. It took some mental preparation due to the skin I knew I would leave behind. The sharp edges inside these doors seems like they are meant to keep people away. I taped off the edges and paced myself and it all seemed to work out fine. I purchased some dynamat a while back and had about 4 sheets of 12x36 so I figured lets get'r done.
I removed all wiring, cleaned it, cleaned connectors and re-taped everything. Then cleaned the inside of the doors with royal purple and a drywall sanding block. This seemed to work pretty good and my doors didn't seem too dirty on the inside. Finished up with a rag and some rubbing alcohol. Dynamat went from just below door handle to about 6 inches from the bottom. The change in sound when closing the door is quite noticeable and it reduced the amount of road noise when driving around without door panels. I am pretty happy with the results of my Saturday afternoon. Pics...

Re: Old Blue
Yeah that is a job. I did mine too. I also did the backside of my Door Panels. It really does make a difference.

Re: Old Blue
Can you give a fellow Marine a list of the parts you got to drop your truck? Or the Kit Model, and any alterations you made in the parts to make it look better.
Thanks Jack |

Re: Old Blue
My pleasure Jack. I contacted Travis at AZ Pro Performance. He is a vendor here.
I ordered the kit with 3" drop spindles and 2" drop springs for the front and a rear flip kit. Ordered the kit with the upgraded drop shocks. Call Travis and tell him what you got, what you want and he will hook you up. He's a truck guy so he knows what will work. I also replaced all the ball joints, wheel cylinders, brakes pads/shoes and brake hoses. I also trimmed the LCA for clearance (pics in my thread) and everything went great. New paint and stuff all over the place as I only like to do things once and my OCD allows for nothing else. There is a small issue that everyone experiences with the new front brake hoses and all it takes is a little tweaking with a wrench to bend it to the correct angle and you are in business. I used 7" wheels up front and 8" wheels out back. Everything bolted right up. Originally, I was using 1" drop springs with the 3" spindles but it wasn't right so Travis swapped those out for me for some 2" springs and I'm happy with the look now. If you run into any problems, let me know and i'll PM you my # and we'll work thru it. Good luck and post pics of your progress.

Re: Old Blue
Been piddling around fixing and painting small things while getting ready for Turkey Day!
Got the driver's side inner fender cleaned up and painted along with the jack. Cleaned up my ashtray after seeing a couple of members here do theirs... Before... After....

Re: Old Blue
I put a small strip of rubber in between the jack and inner fender. I couldn't stand to see it getting scratched after the finish turned out so good.

Re: Old Blue
I have one of those jacks. I never knew where it was supposed to mount. But it looks like I may have a few missing pieces. The previous owner put the chrome wheel wells in. So it gets mounted back behind the washer bottle?

Re: Old Blue
Yes, there are is a black plastic piece that holds the base of the jack. A threaded stud for the hold down clamp and the clamp itself. As for orientation, I went off of the sticker on the inner fender that is still intact and readable!
Now to make the rest of the engine bay look like that lol...

For sure, I know there's at least one other guy in the Memphis area I've spoken to on here.

Re: Old Blue
Been a while since I have updated this thread so I figure I would bring everyone up to speed. Been working on the interior since Christmas. Decided to turn everything black inside except for the blue metal part of the dash. I think it will turn out good. Everything you see here was dyed/painted semi-gloss black from the original blue color. Wife hooked me up with some seatbelts in the style I wanted and after a 20hr round trip to get my seat from TKCR (great gal!), parts wise, I was ready, just needed the time to get it done which takes me a while because I try to be as meticulous as my schedule and my budget will allow. I do the best I can with what I've got. So on with the pictures!!!
As you can see, the metal underneath was in pretty good shape. I decided to use some dynamat I already had and some roofing stuff from Lowes that I have used on other trucks and works great!

Re: Old Blue
Passenger side is done and check out my lower door panels. I had the metal strip powdercoated and installed in the panels as the stock ones after I punched holes in the vinyl. The lower panel will be held on with those 3m 'hard velcro' strips that are rated up to 18lbs....
I removed the door pulls and just went with the cleaner more simple trim from LMC along with a new arm rest. Everything else, i painted/dyed black.
