Cool Hood Hinge?

Anyone replace hood hinges lately with LMC? Gonna do mine and see they have hinges for $50 each but Early Classic has OEM hinges for nearly twice as much...are the OEM's that much better?

Re: Hood Hinge?

Looks like not too many have had to buy hinges. As far as i know mine are original. I would be cautious with the really cheap ones. How about an original set from a yard or something?

Re: Hood Hinge?

Do you need hinges or just want to replace existing examples?

I've replaced hood hinges and sent them back. I was better off with the pair of originals. do you have your originals?? mash down the rivets and get a new pair of springs. you might be better off.

Re: Hood Hinge?

So the whole time I've owned this Blazer the hood on the driver side never has lined up right, the hood has always been higher than the cowl by about a half inch, so last week I opened the hood and heard a loud ping and something metal falling to the ground, I think it was the rivet in the hinge popping out, and the hinge was way worse off after that. I put a nut and bolt in the hinge for now... so I just am assuming it needs to be replaced and figured I would do them both...I don't really know if these springs are original...Thanks for chiming in though! This must not be a common prob...

Re: Hood Hinge?

Well, I have repops I got from Wes at Classic Heartbeat, and they are holding up just fine. Just my experience, I know other people have had bad experiences with aftermarket, just not me in this particular case.
