Hello from Maryland

New to the c10 world but not new to building.
My love for these trucks date back to being a little guy and my grandfather having a late 60s c series dump truck and my step dad having a broke down 70 tool body chevy truck in the driveway for 10 years. They were both blue and holy **** I'm realizing that I subconsciously bought a blue truck too!!!!
I recently picked up a 69 GMC LWB. I specifically wanted a gmc because I love the double din lights and grill. It was a farm truck its entire life, the bed floor is rotted away and at some point the column shift was ditched and had an auto thrown in(lame). 327 truck. originally green but its been painted.
I was craving a new project since I sold my LS rx7 ground up build.
This will probably be a pretty slow moving build as I'm also buying a house too. I've already found a ton of information and a lot of badass trucks on here and I'm stoked to keep searching around.

so far, I've removed the stupid wheel covers to find the always rad, original white steelies and ditched the tool box. I also have a ton of suspension and brake parts on the way from CPP, McGaugey, and DJM. The plan is resto mod I guess. Practically, rolling on all new/modern equipment, fuel injected but keeping the rough truck look. Still not sure about the bully bar on the front. haha

As much as I'd love to do another ground up, I currently don't have the space to blow the truck apart. So, I'm going to do this and that and most the time is will be up and running still.

Re: Hello from Maryland

Did a little research on the VIN and found out its a factory inline 6. It currently has a v8 not sure if its a 327 or 350. Gonna dig into a little more once I have some free time from work. ALSO..... some parts came. It was enough to bogg down my 2.2 s10

Hey hey from a fellow old-liner, Free-stater, er Marylander? You know, guy from Maryland. That's cool they painted it blue so you could have a coincidence! Pretty cool you did an RX7/LS swap. My son would be all about that (me too). There is a "regions" message board way down the message board page and we fall under Northeast (although MD is in the south! Not that a whole lot happens there these days, check it out for things going on in our state. Now get to work!

Hey there fellow Marylander! I wish they wouldn't have painted it blue. I kind of hate it haha. I glanced over looking for a regional section when I signed up and totally missed it, but will do. Hopefully I'll get some gremlins worked out and get out to a meet soon.

Hah, reminds me of a gal asking me "What part of town are you from?" and I answered, "No part. I'm from the sticks".

Yeah, too bad you can't wash it off. I've stripped parts before and the repaint jumped right off and didn't touch the OEM paint. Prolly wouldn't work that way when you "don't" want it to come off.

There's a thread called "Wuzzup 2016" for whatever in MD. Scroll on down and keep going near the bottom

I was thinking about attempting to get some of the blue off and by the graces of a higher power truck God, I can get down to the original green, throw a few layers of clear and keep the old beat up farm truck look..just with much less blue.
Thanks for the regional info! I stopped by Carlisle on sunday and it had died down a lot, I think a bulk of the guys from here had already rolled out. probably going back this weekend for The corvette show.

Good ol Phelps. I can definitely be supportive of an Olympian who is Baltimore bred and enjoys the occasional bong rip.

Cool. I lived in essex off 702 for a bit. My uncle lives on Middle river near the airport.

Re: Hello from Maryland

Hello guys fellow Maryland'er here from down on the Eastern Shore. Not trying to high jack your thread but any chance you guys may know if any place to bring my truck in MD for some rust repair, welding up holes from where the previous owner removed side trim and general body work. This work is definitely beyond my capabilities and I want someone that will do the job right. Looking for a shop or even someone on the Forum that can do this type of work. Thanks for any assistance.

Honestly I have more horror stories about people trying to get that type of work done.

There are two board members that I would highly recommend but they both out of state.
