205 transfer case to 4L80E?
Will be starting a 6.0 & transmission swap on my 72 K10 soon. I have a 4L80E and transfer case that came with the donor (2002 silverado HD) but the tranny is shot. I am wondering if I should do a 700R4 instead? K10 has a 205 transfer case. Whats your thoughts? Turbo 350 in truck has low miles on a rebuild and shifts good.

Re: 205 transfer case to 4L80E?
Do some searching and you will find the answer your after, as its covered fairly often. You have the wrong tcase for a 4l80 swap, but it can be modded to fit. This will require the input bearing bore to be enlarged and a 32 spline input gear. Then you will need to buy an aftermarket adapter. There is possibly and adapter to mate the 80e shaft to your 205, but if there is, Im not familiar with it. To mate is to the 700r4 or 4l60e wont be a huge problem, but you will still need a few aftermarket pieces to set it up.
