Tf hood hinges

Finally finishing up bodywork on cab, doors, fenders, and now fitting the hood. I knew the hood hinge springs were weak since I had to push the rear of the hood down each time I closed it, so I went ahead and ordered new hinges/springs a while back from one of the familiar truck parts suppliers. Well, after mounting the new hinges it was apparent something wasn't right. The hinges hardly moved through their travel without much force, even with the springs off. I decided to dig out my old hinges (thankfully never throw anything away) and mounted them. Easily travel through swing with no resistance. I put the new springs on and still have to push the rear of the hood down after closing. I know this is a common issue, but thought it was directly related to the springs. Any suggestions?

Thanks, Jim

Re: Tf hood hinges

Anyone had a similar experience with new hinges that took a bit of exercising to get them to loosen up? These will hardly budge, even under weight of hood attached.

Re: Tf hood hinges

Mine were the same way. I fixed them by replacing them with front hinge forward opening. Harder to get to the front of the motor but easy to align.
