Van Tilt Installation

Purchased a van tilt from one of our board members, ROD. Thanks ROD for the fast shipment.

Anyways, now I'm trying to get it installed. Is there a good way to remove the rubbers and flange that bolts to the firewall and reinstall on the new tilt? I have seen some discussions regarding this installation, but they never address the rubber installation. I saw an article which showed bending the shifter arm down to let the rubbers slide over, but I'm a little worried that I'll just end up buggering up the unit. I could cutt off the arm, and then reweld after installation of the rubbers. Is there a better way?

i always bend the arm down then, make sure all the rubber is on correctly then bend it back straight.
if you break it THEN weld it back on..
good luck
