6 lug disc..Witch kit?
I think the way to go on the build I'm on right now would be to do a drum to disc change over and use 6 lug disc. What kit have you guys used or or at least know about that will let me do that. I thought I saw one somewhere that used all the same stuff from the 70 that is on there now. Since my trucks suspension is as tight as a new one that is the way I'd like to go. Thanks

Re: 6 lug disc..Witch kit?
The factory 6-lug steel wheels will not work with disc brakes. The backspacing and the shape of the inside of the wheels do not have the clearance. Not sure what other components you are wishing to retain. Also, I know that ECE makes a kit for switching our trucks to disc but even if you want to keep factory height you still have to buy conversion spindles. However, the conversion spindles will allow you to use your 69-70 suspension parts. Just not factory wheels.

Re: 6 lug disc..Witch kit?
Just installed ECE with stock height. ECE said it comes with everything but brake fluid and grease and they were right.
I read many posts here before going with ECE. Seems most others have missing parts or parts that don't fit. Read several that had to replace bearings etc. ECE had quality parts. Had a one guy garage help me and he said he always put new rotors on lathe because of pulsing with crap parts now available. We didn't true ECE rotors and there were no problems. Price was up there but quality parts. |

Re: 6 lug disc..Witch kit?
Not planning on stock wheels, I have some Chevy truck 4 X 4 wheels. You know the ones that look like rally wheels.

I used ECE's kit for my disc brake conversion. It was top notch.

https://scarebird.com/index.php?rout...product_id=150 I have no experience with it, but thought about it for my truck since it uses OEM rotors. I decided to go with drop spindles instead so as to keep the springs as long as possible. However, if you want to keep your drum spindles, I know of no other kit. |

Re: 6 lug disc..Witch kit?
Has anyone used the CPP kit? I'm about to order my conversion, but after researching and reading reviews of several companies, I'm kinda leery.

Witch kit? Halloween is nearly here so I would wait until then, they usually have good sales for that kinda stuff near or right after Halloween. (Sorry, couldn't help myself!)

I have ordered the cpp conversion spindles for a 1970. Twice they have been shipped from Summit, the box has the correct part numbers, but inside the spindle is stamped with the wrong part number. Summit is now going to open the boxes and verify the casting numbers before shipping. If they are all boxed wrong, then I am going to switch to another brand that they carry. Summit is great, but I couldn't imagine going through with a company that has bad customer service. The good thing about the conversion spindle is that you keep all your original center link and steering parts but you can keep it six hole or change to a standard 1 1/4 rotor with 5 lug anytime you want. |

Re: 6 lug disc..Witch kit?
I strongly suggest that you NOT go with CPP I ordered a complete four wheel disc brake conversion kit from them / 6 lug for my 69 C10 swb. They have serious issues with their boosters being defective. I did NOT realize this when I ordered and YEP you guessed it I got everything installed and the booster was defective. Had to ship it all the way back to California (at my cost) and they would not send one back out to me until they got it in house and tested it etc. took them about 8 - 10 days from when they got it until they sent it back to me and they would not tell me what was wrong with it. Horrible customer service and they truly acted as if they did not care if I ordered anything through them again or not nor did they care if I was a happy customer. Just do a simple Google search for CPP brake booster problems and you will see what I am talking about.. Sure wish I had before I gave them $1300 plus. Good luck

Re: 6 lug disc..Witch kit?
Very good to know. I'd heated something similar before. I had a friend go with CPP about 20 years ago, and was pleased. However, management changes and emphasis on customer satisfaction suffers. I'll keep looking and watching

Has anyone used the SSBC kit? Summit carries the one I want, and I do like their top notch service.

Here is pic of 4x4 wheel from 78 I was told. It cleared ECE supplied caliper by almost 1/4 "
