Building truck for son and want 3 point belts.
Has anyone ever tried these?

unfortunately they cut back on alot of the pics of the interior

Anyway the pic that shows some of the seat, the seat was out of a late model '01 lesabre.

Its not that hard to install a 3pt belt if you find a good bench that has the lap belts connectors already mounted.

I used 2007 Tahoe third row for that reason, look at the early part of my build thread. I made a frame so I could snap them in and out and keep the tilt function and adjust the seat angle. front to back is fixed position, I have a telescope tilt column.

One thing to watch for is that a lot of the backs on the seats in the newer trucks are very thick compared to our stock seats or the backs on 88/92 or so seats.

Can't blame you on the shoulder harness though as the one in my Geo Prizm GSI did it's job when I got rear ended by a garbage truck and shoved into a guard rail last week. Totaled the car but I walked away with a couple of bruises from the shoulder harness.
I've always thought head rests were ugly on seats in old trucks but the head rest in the GSI did it's job as he hit me hard enough that it broke the back on the seat.

Glad you hear you're all right. Yeah since i'll probably have family in the truck definately wanted to see what options were out there for seatbelts

That is the type of seat i am looking for as well , to use in my 58 TF , i like the fact that it has sliders so it is not a "fixed" seat , and still will tilt forward , i am finding it hard to find cloth seats like that out of the SUV's though (don't like leather , too hot in summer and you stick to it , and too cold in winter) , just need to find the correct width , and gives you some comfort that you have a 3 point belt , rather than just a lap belt

I was on CL the other night and saw a 3rd row from a suburban, and I wondered how that would work. A lot of people are saying that the Astro seats are great, so that got me to thinking about the Suburban. Since Orrie put on in his truck, that answered my question about on fitting. Thanks Orrie.

Mr48chev-wow,wow glad you walked away from that one. Ours is a 3 window 51 AD so headrest not especially visible and those things have saved my neck in a couple of wrecks.

I have seen lots of suggestions for the third row seats but having ridden in the back of vehicles like that on trips it seemed that some of them were not very comfortable for traveling.

OrrieG I see you used one, have you really liked it on long trips?

I have a friend who cut down a 60/40 Chevy truck seat from mid 80s and I really like the way it felt to sit in. He cut down the 60 part so that his seat would be centered on the steering wheel and it really fit me nicely but his had no built-in shoulder belt. I really like the idea of a turnkey set up if I could just drop them in and adjust height, build track brackets. Will be putting new upholstery on it so I have flexibility on seat frame and rebuild and see if needed.

I am 6' 2" and have long legs. I will be using an Ididit tilt column and that will help some but that seatback thickness will be important.

I had seen this build and I think this guy had a lot of great ideas. This is where I got the idea for the Denali seats. It is just hard for me to tell from pictures how thick the back is and I do not have side-by-side in front of me to compare.

That is exactly what I was talking about. How tall are you and how do they fit you when you drive it? Any adjustability? Have you taken it on a long trip? Any difficulty installing them? Do yours tilt forward for access behind?

Are those in your 55 or 58? I don't know much about difference in cab room between the two types of drugs.

Here are some photos on fit. I am short 5'6" so I sat the frame higher to fit my arm on the window sill. Drawer slides out under driver seat to put stuff into to rattle around. Stereo is under the passenger section.

Those look great, so much to like about em. In the pic with you in it, is seat all the way back? Legroom is high priority for me.
Are seat back angles adjustable?

I am 6'5" and I don't have any real problem with leg room. The seats are electric and move far enough ahead to get behind seat , they do not fold forward. I have not been on any long trips ,but I don't think it would be a problem. I would like a tilt column will do that in the future.

seats are in 55 but 55 -59 cabs are the same so would fit the same in any year. No problem installing just drill holes where needed ,I used seat belt mount brackets under cab for reinforcement . http://www.ebay.com/itm/PAIR-Seat-Be...-/271948096741

I made my frame with a pivot in the back and large all thread screw adjustment in the back. I set the initial angle at 15 degrees with about 1.5" clearance at the rear window and cab back. Here is a diagram that shows the original design dimensions for TF trucks. Remember that back then people were smaller because of dietary and environmental issues during the depression.
