Straring Problems

Well I hate for my first post to be a starting problem, but this one has me baffled..81 3/4 ton 350 auto 2wd... so truck has sat a couple years. Tested alternator starter, new battery , new cables new ignition switch new cap rotor coil igN module, plugs wires rebuilt carb, and so on. Took her out on her maiden voyage, Truck was running great, went in somewhere for about an hour, and she won't turn over , has power but no juice getting to the starter, so I checked the placement of my ignition switch.. rods good, battery cables good, neutral safety switch good, took the starter out retested it with a battery, good. Throw the starter back in. Still won't turn over. So I jumped the solenoid to the starters main power and she fired right up.... shut the truck off and she fired right up again!! Could it be a switch in the solenoid?? I don't know of any other relays the could jam up on the trucks. Thoughts???

Re: Straring Problems

I'd suspect the solenoid. You can probably pick up just a solenoid from LordCo or Napa. Even better - get one of them modern gear-reduction starters. Less current, and more torque. I think mine is from a '98 truck.

Chemainus! Why, you're just a boat ride away from me!
