th350 to 4l60e '76 c10
Is there an adapter needed? Has anyone done the swap successfully? All of my searches have turned up with the op getting redirected to a 700r4 or keeping the th350. I came across the kit below but can't find anyone to tell me if they have used the kit or a crankshaft spacer or??

The TH350 to 4L60 E swap is the same as a TH700R4/4L60 swap. There are small differences the 4L60E is a computer controlled transmission so a computer and TPS source are needed. Both need cross member relocation and drive shaft shortened. The 4L60E transmission needs to be off a standard SB motor, LS1 style trans and converter are different. The computer version is easier to program to you driving style if you use the TCI controller.
The TH700R4/4L60 trans has to have a TV cable properly hooked up and a Torque Converter Clutch lock up kit installed. No crankshaft spacer needed. You can PM me if you need additional information. |

With the proper transmission and converter None of that adapter kit is needed. It is for a LS1 style transmission on a 1986 of later SB Chevy non LS1 motor.

What engine did the 2002 Transmission come off of?
Can you post a picture of the input shaft? |

I know it was a 5.3 and the trans is a 2002 service replacement unit. Looks like the bolt pattern will line up.

Bolt pattern will line up. The problem with the trans you have is that the LS1 motors are different in the crank area so that will not work on a standard small block chevy motor pre LS1. The Input shaft/torque converter combination is different.
To use the trans you have you would need the GM adapter kit and LS1 style 4L60E torque converter as well as all the other parts to fit the trans in your car. The style of trans for the non LS1 small block has a pilot stub at the end of the splines with the o-ring on the stub pilot. Were as on your LS1 trans there is no stub pilot and the O-ring is behind the splines. Just a matter of what your budget is and if you want a computer controlled trans or not. |

I have the trans adapter kit, a trans controller and the converter that came with the trans. Ill move the cross-member back and install the line adapters so I can use my flared trans cooler lines and hope for the best. Looks like it will all line up ok.

I have found that the fittings will interchange between a th400 and the 4l60e. I was worried that the smaller lines from the earlier trans would not be adequate so I am making some bigger lines to match the late model but with flare fittings.

5/16" inverted flare steel tubing is the size tubing you need to use.
