Lightbulb lowering rear on 72 1/2 leaf sprung rear

hey i would like to lower the rear 5-6 inches on my 72long box leaf spring truck i was wondering if i have to do a c section on it if i do a axel filp ? how much drop would i get ? the plans for the front are 2.5 drop spindles and 2 drop coils
if anyone has done this and could give me any help i would love it .


does anyone have pic of their lowered truck

Your in luck, My truck has leaf rear and coil front. I used the flip in the rear and 3" dropped coils up front. The back went down a total of 6 inches with the flip. I had to notch the frame. Some people may say you dont need to do it but my rear hit the frame on cracks in the road before I notched it. I made the flip kit on my own for about $40. I got some scrap 1/4" steel from a local grinding shop and bought the axle purches and U-bolts. I boxed in the frame on the open side. I then put a U piece in the part that I cut out. Seems to be holding up well for almost 2 years now. I have to go check it out again when I get home. Here are some pics of it, email me if you have any questions. Good Luck.

hey you got a really nice truck . I was just at your site .you only did 3" drop in the front? did the frame come very close to the bed thanks for the help . THANKS 16 year old punk

Hey, I was 16 when I dropped my truck too so your not alone there. What do you mean by did the frame come close to the bed? I did not add any metal above the frame, I just reinforced what metal was there. And yes, I did only go down 3" in the front. I would like to go down more but the college budget is a killer. When I said did the frame come close to the bed ,I thought that you did a C section or is the noch the same thing ? What you did was just cut the frame (how much?) inches and box it in , or what ? Iam from Canada Ontario so there is not too big of a seen here . Also who makes your roll pan ?

I am not really sure what the difference between a notch and c-section is. I just mis-understood what you said. Sorry bout that. I believe the notch in my truck is about 2" deep by about 4" long. Make sure you figure out exactly where to put it, at first mine was off by about a 1/2" and the rear hit it all the time. I used 1/4" thick steel to box it in on all sides. I made a U-piece by heating up the steel and bending it with a very large hammer and cut another piece to fill in the other side. I did the complete drop, front and rear, in two days. I did most of the work myself and occasionally had a friend over. Now that I look back on it, I am not sure what took so long.

if u have a high budget and want air ride, air ride technologies has a 4-link conversion for leaf spring trucks.

Hey I guess you could say Iam quite the badass skiped my 4th peroid class four days in a row know to come use the internet . we dont do anything in class anyway . We should be learning how to weld , but the teach is sick with some intestine prob . Atleast I'm learning something here ! I already know how to do some good arc welds working on welding uphand on vert . My dad will probibly help me with the notch even though he dosent agree with lowering trucks . Iam sending my frame out this month to have it sandblasted in the process of taking everything off that bolts on. Thanks for listen any tips on taking the frame apart would be great.
