I have the coulmn shift from my 58 3 on the tree you can have. I'm not sure of the differences between the 56 & 58 but it's yours if you want it. PM me if you interested.

How can you tell the difference? I have one but it's from an AD, are they the same? Just this one piece he needs.

Thanks again guys. I dont know what the difference is between the years but I do know that from 55-59 the column shift knob it the same. LOL. That doesn't mean it will work but I am desperate the find one as I can't find anything online for sale. I can find the springs, pins, bushings but not the actual column shift lever. I guess most people replace the steering column and toss them away and its really not a big sought after part to reproduce. Anyways thanks again and if one of you know if the 58 would work on the 56 I'd appreciate the info.

Without finding a factor parts number for the shift lever you would have a hard time telling unless one of the more well versed TF guys knows the difference.

The difference in the parts may be the length of the shaft between the shift handle and the shift. Is there a difference in length between the 55/57 columns and the 58/59 columns?

That is Correct, 55-56 have a Long mast and flat wheel, 57-59 have a short mast and dished wheel.

Big Mike, take that offer, you should have no problem making that one fit
and an assembly like that is HARD to find, You can buy replacement parts
for all the guts at the Knuckle and rebuild (BUT) it is a pain in the A$$ but can be done with patience.
Again take the Offer it will work! you can adapt the head piece on to you shaft at the knuckle,
Nail Pounder's offer is a Very Generous one, the barrel piece that has the two flanges for the two screws to mount to the column always
get broken and it looks like the one that Nail Pounder has is in good shape. when it comes time to mounting it make sure those two screws are clean
and use some locktite on the screws and it will be your friend to help with keeping the assembly firm and smoother shifts.
