Help with DASH Guages
I have a friend that has a 79k10 and his dash has idiot lights for the oil,bat,brake,etc.. He went out and bought a dash cluster that has gauges instead of the idiot pods. My question is, will his current wiring harness plug right into his new dash cluster and work or will he need to modify his wiring somehow?

someone has to know whats going on with this. To me it makes sense that you wire the blinker where the blinker should go. I just need reassurance.

The connectors should be the same and plug together but the wires will more than likely be in different places in the connector. I say this because I did this swap in a 87 Chevy van and this the case. What I did was to make sure to get both male and female connectors from the donor. Then splice them to your wires, color to color. You will also need oil and temp senders for gauges instead of lights.

I don't understand what you mean about having oil and temp senders? Do you mean that I have to change the sensors for the temp and oil for the guages to work?

Yes, you have to change the sensors. Idiot lights use different sensors than the gauges use.

You can push the pins out of the harness and "map" them to their new posistion. I have done this several times. This is conditional that the cluster he go will actuall work with the current truck.
