Electric Wiper Motor
I bought a 12 volt wiper motor for my 1954 GMC 1/2 ton short bed five window from LMC part # 36-4066, and it don't fit. Clearly you can see why, the dash is to narrow. LMC lists the wiper motor for 54 - 55 first series Chevrolet and GMC . Do They realize the Chevy cab and GMC cab are differnt in 1954? I was wondering if antbody has run across this problem. Looking through the other vendor catalogs they to list the electric wiper motor for the 1954 Chevrolet and GMC as the same part numbers.They are not the same.I tried mounting the wiper motor several different ways with no avail. Very frustrating and time consuming . Going to call monday and listen to the parts man , who has never worked on a chevy pickup let alone a GMC pickup, tell me it should fit either one. Any ideas?

Just send back the Electric wiper motor LMC send me for my 58 chevy . There was no way it was going to work on my truck.

Cab is same but dash is a lot different. It narrows down right where the motor hangs. Any way .I called LMC and was informed that they have got complaints the electric wiper motor # 36-4066 will not fit the GMC cab however they keep listing is as fitting the 54 GMC cab. Don't make sense to me. Anyway a lesson learned, I will sell it on ebay . and order one from Newport. Thanks for all your help.

Dano, do you have the manufacturer and part number you ordered from LMC? I got one from Eckler's recently for my '58, so curious if it's the same.

I know this is an old thread, but I have the same issue with my '54 GMC, and after 2.5 years since the last post LMC still has not corrected their fitment description. After arguing with the lady on the phone-who insisted that they do not claim it will work for a GMC, I went to a customer service rep. I sent him photos that I took of LMC's web site, he said to send the motor back and they will pickup the shipping both ways.
Has anyone here solved this problem for the '54 GMC yet?

I have 54 GMC, my wiper motor came from Newport Engineering. Fits and works fine.
