What is this?

So I scored a free tilt steering column from a guy at work. He said he pulled it out of a 76. But what is the brass box on the column in the pic? Mine does not have that if my memory is correct. Anyone know?

That's the ignition (slider) switch. Should connect to the key tumbler with a rod. Also, that's yellow zinc plated, not brass.

Thanks. And yes I know it isn't brass. But by putting brass color people know exactly what they need to look at. Dumb it down. You know keep it simple stupid type stuff. But thanks for the help Nick.
