How is radiator suppose to be held in place?

Hey y'all. So I'm trying to figure out what the proper way a radiator is to be bolted, or held in place. Truck I bought, former owner literally just took an extension cord and wrapped it around the support. I know it has aftermarket radiator support, and I've read that some don't have all the holes needed. So any help is appreciated! Thanks

It depends on what kind of radiator you have. The factory radiator mounts in two rubber lined stirrups on a crossmember on the bottom and a bracket that bolts to the grille support on top while some aftermarket units have flanges which allows mounting directly to the back side of the grille support.

Also depends what year your truck is, 60-62 just bolts straight to the rad support, it doesn't rest on rubber pieces like 63-66 does.

My fault, it's a 66' with a champion radiator. Not sure what model or anything of champion. Does the 66 have the piece that goes over the top and connect to hood mount ?

You can see in this picture in the bottom right corner what it looks like. Now just have to find one or get something bent up that will work.

You know of anywhere to get one? Or what the proper name of the part is?

One thing, since Champions are more square that the original, it's advisable to actually use a thinner rubber under the steel mount than you would on an original mount. Good luck!

try e bay. I will see if I have an extra when I go to my storage/shop space. Saw one on E Bay but he used the word "Rare" and is asking $159. I don't think you want to pay that much for one. Plus he said it was a wider radiator.
