Need advice quick on potential purchase
Looking at a 65 deb conversion as I type. As advertised 6/8 drop with c ***** and trailing arm rear with cop springs . Lowered with stock springs in front. Gen 1 sbc with 350 tranny. Looks ok. All the bed and body mounts are heavily rusted and the fender corners and can corners but that was advertised. Bad news is the front control arms are sitting on the stops. So basically a rigid lol. No drop spindles just whacked coils. Super oily underneath so just a tired sbc maybe bad seals or ? Conversion looks well done but bed not finish on the surface. Wants 6k? Iam thinking it's not worth it but that's what be wants. Thanks

I'd give no more than 4K for that.

Re: Need advice quick on potential purchase
No such thing as rust in all the right places. Patina is one thing but that is just anither rusty truck. I would have to see the truck in person and look at all the work that has been done to put a value on it.

Re: Need advice quick on potential purchase
My guess is it was some old beater longbed he picked up for virtually nothing and is now trying to make a few bucks on it by chopping it into a shortbed and throwing a few cheap lowering parts on it. I rode on bumpstops on one test drive in my truck after chopping the springs. It was scary! Those springs would need to be replaced ASAP with proper drop springs and drop spindles to get it where it sits now to match the rear drop. That's the easy stuff to fix. All that rust you mentioned, on the other hand, would turn me away in a second.

Re: Need advice quick on potential purchase
The hood rust is surface rust? The truck needs fender repairs and rockers, cab corners , plus the bed paint touched up to match.
My number would be $4,000 to 4,500 Spend $2500-3000 making the body and suspension right and you have $8000 truck that stands tall. Engine work would be additional......

Re: Need advice quick on potential purchase
Well shoot, to late to read the posts and to impulsive for my own good. Paid 3000 and that was because I wanted it not cause it was worth it lol! Good news is iam flipping happy as can be and what's in need of repairs is not to hard or expensive to do. I won't be building a show truck so I'll come in under budget on this one I think. I'll start a new thread with pictures so you guys can help me understand a few things and make recommendations on parts vendors and what you wouldn't do again lol! Even though it's a p.o.s. I had a big smile putting around my neighbourhood after I got her off the trailer. So stay tuned so you can tell me told ya so and scold me for this buy! Tha me everyone for helping a fellow enthusiast out. I appreciate it alot.charlie

Re: Need advice quick on potential purchase
Even with the rust, it's still a cool truck! You sure did get him to come down a lot too, nice work. Looking forward to seeing what you do with it.
