Spare Tire DELETE advice?
Has anyone here deleted their spare tire area on a stepside?
I've heard of people cutting out the area and 'flipping' it over and welding it back in as a delete. Has anyone here done this? pics? Advice? This is a low budget build on my son's truck, so buying a new fender isn't an option. Thanks |

Re: Spare Tire DELETE advice?
You might want to find someone who wants a notched fender and make a trade.
Or you could actually install a spare tire - that'd be different. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=326956

Negative on the spare tire, we're going for a ProStreet look.
I've tried looking for a trade, but no luck. Quote:

Lowered pro-street look with a hard covered painted spare (smaller size for looks) on EACH side. Oooooo

Re: Spare Tire DELETE advice?
If your cutout fender is in good to decent shape, find a non cutout fender that is rotted/rusted bad on lower half, cut the hump out (leave you extra), then trim and weld it into place.
It is a LOT of work and you have to be slow/careful to not warp it, but very feasible. Otherwise, it is big bucks for a new on good used fender.

Yeah, I've tried locating a donor fender, but no luck with that either. That's why I'm looking at cutting and flipping. I've read about people doing it, but never seen the results or got a good feel for how they went about it.
