Not shifting help!

Ok so I know there's other posts on here about swaps and 4l60E not shifting but I feel like I've exhausted all my tips. My swap is complete and I cannot get my trans to shift! I just had it rebuilt so I dont lthink that's the problem. My speedo also does not work. I am running an intellitronix setup off of the vss output. It will shift manually 1st and second but comes out of gear in drive. I can get it to shift on it's own 1st to 2nd at about 3800 but that's about it. I have verified 12v at the trans, replaced the VSS and TPS. I also had speartech verify that the computer has the correct flash. Is it possible that the vss wires are backwards? Any help is appreciated!

Re: Not shifting help!

I would be sure the big round plug is plugged in correctly also. I think most of them will plug in 180 degrees and it wont work right like that lol ask me how I know.. The big round plug that goes into the transmission.

I just picked up a scanner and I am going to check it when I get home. I really feel like im going to get a "low vss" just by the way its acting. I just want to verify that before I go tearing the harness back open to replace any wires and such. Ill also check the large plug. I actually tried to plug it in the other way and it didnt feel like it wanted to go but, I may be wrong. It is a 99 5.7 out of an F-body and matching computer. Trans is an earlier truck 4l60e. Thank you for the help!

Re: Not shifting help!

Hopefully you got a scanner the will read out some data and not just codes. You'll be able to tell quickly on the scanner if the VSS signal is making it to the computer.

Re: Not shifting help!

Just as I suspected....no vss signal. I have continuity from the plug to the computer and it's a new sensor. Any ideas?

Re: Not shifting help!

Don't know anything about your setup but are both wires in the correct locations in the computer connector?

Is the trans new? Maybe take the speed sensor out and look and see if the reluctor ring is positioned properly (centered in the hole).

It shouldn't be too hard to pin down the problem.

Re: Not shifting help!

Well, I've checked everything that I know of. Reluctor ring position, pin position, good output from the sensor to computer, tried reversing the wires on sensor, sensor position. The only thing left i can think of is a bad computer. Anyone have any suggestions on a new swap readyvcomputer?

Re: Not shifting help!

Well in a last ditch effort I decided to try another new sensor. Come to find out, oreillys gave me the wrong one to begin with. I was getting an output but apparently not what was necessary. Installed the correct sensor and wah lah- it shifts! Oreilly owes me about 20 hours labor!
