security ideals
is it better to put a battery disconnect in the engine compartment or in the dash? i realize that if they want it they can get it but just curious. thanks for the help.

I've been running a Hotronics brand remote disconnect for over 10 years and it works flawlessly. The solenoid is essentially hidden under the battery box, and is operated by a remote switch in the passenger compartment.

The entire vehicle is electrically dead by the simple flip of the switch. It also keeps all the high amp voltage right near the battery instead of bringing it inside the cab.

I used a bat+ disconnect and a kill switch on the solenoid wire. The kill switch is enclosed in a security console.

On my SM465, I'm just going to put the truck in granny, then remove the gearshift and take it with me.

I have the large toggle cut-off on the battery and made up a small bracket to allow me to padlock the hood closed (lock then flips up out of sight). Takes only a few seconds for me to secure but anyone wanting to get in has to work outside in plain view as opposed to sitting in my truck looking around for a switch..
