Chevy 350 V8 To Chevy Inline 6 Swap ASAP
Hello, I am looking at swapping out my 350 for a Inline 6, but I have some questions. It would be going in a 1975 Chevy K5 Blazer. Looking at information first to see if I want to buy an inline 6 for my truck.
-How good of an engine is an inline 6 compared to a 350? -Is a 350 trans a good mate for an inline 6? If not, what automatic transmission do you recommend? -Where does the motor mount up? What do the brackets look like? -Are the 250 and 292 the best 2 inline 6's to look for? -Do inline 6's get better gas mileage than a 350? Would like to know this information as soon as possible. Thanks |

Do you already have a 250 inline with all brackets, pulleys and carb?
If not, you might get off cheaper finding a used 350

This tread might answer your question.

Re: Chevy 350 V8 To Chevy Inline 6 Swap ASAP
I do not have an inline 6; I already have a 350 in the K5 right now. I was just seeing other people's opinions on an inline 6 vs. a 350. Thanks

Re: Chevy 350 V8 To Chevy Inline 6 Swap ASAP
I'm not an inline 6 guru by any stretch but I'm pretty sure the 292 is the better motor just because of the extra cubes. The 6 is a great motor, just no powerhouse. Plenty of torque down low where you do most of your driving, just not a bunch left if you put it on the mat. The TH350 will work fine with it, I'm pretty sure it was a stock option with the 6 in a square. What are you trying to accomplish?

Re: Chevy 350 V8 To Chevy Inline 6 Swap ASAP
I was just trying to do something different with my K5. A common thing to see is a 350 engine and trans paired together. I don't see a lot of inline 6s' around, so I was thinking about putting one in my K5. Thanks

Re: Chevy 350 V8 To Chevy Inline 6 Swap ASAP
Here's a thread on a 292 swap into a K5.
https://ck5.com/forums/threads/swapp...ht-six.117994/ If you really want to be unique, how about swapping in.a Ford 4.9 straight six? Much superior to a Chevy 292 IMHO.

Re: Chevy 350 V8 To Chevy Inline 6 Swap ASAP
I think it's still cheaper to build a sbc 350 over and inline 6 but if you decide to build the inline there is a fairly decent community that supports their modification/parts.
