Reproduction Tailgate Panel
First time dealing with a K5 Blazer where I've had to replace the brushed aluminum panel on the tailgate. Started a complete resto on an 1987 K5 Blazer 4x4 and the tailgate panel has a "chrome naked lady" on it. Customer wants new panel but I haven't been able to find a new one or reproduction.Does anyone of a vendor or any company that makes a reproduction panel? Its a 1987. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Re: Reproduction Tailgate Panel
Well I did find one on LMC after I pulled up the downloaded the Blazer catalog online. They have them listed on page 29 but after calling LMC back they said they do not have them and are currently looking for a supplier. So i'm SOL on that. Anyone have any other suggestions. Owner really wants new. He has replaced everything that bolts to the exterior of the truck with new.

Re: Reproduction Tailgate Panel
eBay is going to be your only source for new and it is going to be EXPENSIVE! I have purchased a couple of them.

Re: Reproduction Tailgate Panel
There was never a repo Blazer panel. Ever...
Just like 81-87 pickup insert. Never repo'd Too hard to make cheap to avoid GM patents. LMC and everybody else were selling factory GM panels. They were still available a yr ago from GM. All sold out now. There was 3 panels. Chevy(RH holes), GMC(LH holes) and a plain "crash" panel with no holes. No holes was last one GM had in stock. I have/had all 3 in multiples. So if you got one from LMC or somewhere else few yrs ago, it's a GM piece. |
