Electronic Speedometer

I can get an electronic speedo from a Suburban for my swap. They do not have the whole cluster. Is it possible to mount the speedo in my cluster and make it work simply by supplying power and ground and the signal from the ECM??

Or do I have to find an entire cluster somewhere.

I suppose its possible, but there's a lot of things that are different, from the way it bolts to the cluster to the printed circuit on the back. I would save the headache and find a complete cluster if it were me.

I was lucky enough to find a complete cluster.
Wiring is not really my thing.

Dumb question..are those the 1990 colors or my colors?

The ambiguous answer is yes to both. When you pull your harness connecter out of your current cluster, the wiring should have the same coloring as that of the '90 harness (at least it was in my '80), but you'll see that wires will have to be rearranged into different locations, when comparing "the list" to what you have now. The pins are easily extracted, and yes, the harness connecter block fits both clusters.

Digging out my notes from my build, your original harness wiring should be similar to this;

Almost 2 years has gone by..Wow. Finally got around to installing the 1990 cluster while in the process of doing a Vintage air install. Got the plug repinned and wired in the speedo. Much to my amazement everything works! I only wish I had upgraded the light bulbs, as it is a bit dim for my ageing eyes.
