The space on the end of the shift rod I stuck a 7/16" jam nut that came with the kit. Is that what you are referring to? Or am I misunderstanding?

I'm glad you like the color, I was on the fence when I first painted it. I was looking for a good match for the stock color and couldn't find anything that I liked. Flat red that didn't look pinkish apparently doesn't exist in my area, lol. So I went with the Rustoleum hammered metal "Sage" color. I'm happy how it turned out.

Finished cleaning the case and finally got some time to throw some powdercoat on it. All the aluminum parts I'll finish in a silver color.

May not be everybodys cup of tea but I really like the "silver vein" powder.

I have a set of pretty massive ovens that I use, wife was getting mad when I was cooking parts in the house oven. I love powdercoating though. Try to use my setup as much as I can.

do you guys exhaust to the outside, not sure how much stink powdercoating makes

Fumes aren't bad at all. I have mine out in the garage so no venting is needed.

Only have 2 more parts to powdercoat and I can finish putting it back together. Only get a few hours a week to work so it's taking longer than I hoped for but it's also my doing for having to coat everything.

Yeah, I just noticed that - it is an odd looking breather.

Question. What did you use to get your aluminum to polish up so nice? I spent a few evenings with a dremel and some polishing rouge followed by some Mother's compound and it came out maybe half as shiny as yours... Lol, afterward I clear coated it with some Rustoleum paint I had... I thought that the paint would prolong the polishing I had done. I knew I was not crawling under the Blazer at any point in the future to polish aluminum on a transfer case. Unfortunately the paint just turned the aluminum a dull gray.

Yeah, this one wasn't bad. It was just a little hacked as they put in a later tilt steering column. So whoever put that in cut a few wires and made it fun to undue their mess ups. I managed to get everything to work except for the horn, but I think that's a problem within the column and not the harness.

Try running a ground from the steering column to the dash. That cured my intermittent horn issues with my swapped in tilt column.

I will have to try that. Haven't really touched the wires in the last few weeks as I have been all over that 205.

Now that the 205 rebuild is 95% complete, I am onto the TH350. The dip stick leak is an obvious fix and I already have a new grommet. I ended up attaching the transmission to the engine stand which is an awesome way to work on it and makes it very easy to spin around whatever way I need it. So drained the fluid out the removed dip stick hole and removed the pan.

Next I removed the tranny filter and to my surprise, whoever worked on the transmission last managed to mess up such a simple gasket.

I ordered a TRANSGO 350 1&2 kit and a summit billet oil pan. Should be here by weeks end.

Well I managed to get the TRANSGO 1&2 shift kit installed and the transmission back into the truck. The flywheel was slightly bent looking when I turned the truck over with transmission removed so I picked up a new one of those as well.

While the transmission was out I did a quick compression test. The entire right bank of the engine all read 125 PSI and the drivers bank was a few 125, a 130 so I felt good with the air up here a little thin at 4300'.

I finished up the NP205 rebuild and placed it on the jack and was ready to jack it up and remembered that the front drive shaft bolts are a pain and I would be 10x better to install the joint that connects to the transfer case before I fully install it. So I grabbed the front drive shaft and realized just how bad it looked.

So I grabbed some new spicer u-joins from the auto parts store and started to clean it up. Now I am conflicted as to weather throw a coat of paint or possibly powdercoat it. I am just wanting to hear from some of you guys as far as if it will need a rebalance after I decide on what route to go with coating it. Also does this shaft normally turn with the truck in 2wd or only with 4wd engaged?
