Original '73 Jimmy with 44k?

https://www.ebay.com/itm/1973-GMC-Ji...9aS~mm&vxp=mtr
I'm not so sure about the sales pitch.
I fellow I deal with on regular basis asked my opinion about it. He was going to make an offer...

Door sill plates are wrong yr. '78-91 plates
350 emblem is off the grille so at least grille has been off.
Spare tire carrier is missing and no sign of it ever being there.
Paint seems like too much orange peel for factory paint and not one spider web swirl from it being washed over the yrs.
Underneath looks like 144k miles.
Maybe its just me but it just doesn't look like a 44k truck. Its nice, just "too" nice to be all original.

Yeah, I'm not buying all original. I don't know about the year of sill plates, but they appear to be on the wrong sides. The hardware on the drivers seat doesn't look original. Is the knap correct on the carpet? I think the rockers would be tell-tale. If it didn't have serious flaps, the rockers would have chips after 44K. That and the front of the hood, too.

Nice Jimmy for sure but I'm with you guys, couple of little items make one say Humm. My 75 only has 28k on the clock and I believe that is true and it has never been painted. and you can tell. the paint is ruff. Black would be even worst.

Nice truck but not original. Way too many cues it's been refurbed.

I don't remember factory paint ever being that nice and polished after 40+ years. And what's up with the front seat lift kits? Factory box tubing? I'm not buying all the bull....either. Nice K5 though

Not defending the guy but they are a broker, so there disclaimer is, they are only describing the car the way the owner described it to them. I've been down that road, well the owner informed us it was original this or that.

Re: Original '73 Jimmy with 44k?

Obvious paint work and a nice frame on resto. New Grade 8 seat bolts, new carpeting with no indentations where the tire carrier would have been bolted etc. That being said, it is a super nice well documented truck. I think 44,000 miles is probably true. Love the fact that the original owner bought ansen wheels for it - wonder if they are still around? - I think the seller is dreaming on price.

Re: Original '73 Jimmy with 44k?

The spare tire carrier would have mounted vertically behind the rear seat on the driver's side this year. It would be hard to tell if it had ever been there without moving the spare tire. In regards to the front seat hardware and spacers, this is basically what Hickey sold to raise the seats to help with vision so that could have been added at anytime. As far as the true mileage goes, I think it is probably actual. Maybe some paint touch ups over the years, but seatbelts and steering wheel indicate that kind of mileage.

Those don't look like the factor rivets to me.
