Go Where I Always start.
I typed in np205 in Amazon and there are several parts listed. https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_s...=3MQ1V1OIGESRR

Re: Np205 rattling shifter fix???
I had an old 3/4 ton square body that had a high pitch metal ringing/rattle that came from that 205 shifter set up. I took it apart and reassembled with some different types of washers... I can't remember how I associated the washers, but I found the key was to tighten it with a nylon washer so that it had some squish. The nylon washer allowed me to keep it tight but be able to still shift it. I think there is a bushing that the shifter arm rides on where it bolts to the transmission adapter. Mine was long gone, this was maybe 10 years ago and I could not find a replacement. I never got it to work the way I wanted, it shifted better... but was still hard to get into low range since it would bind. The rattle was gone though.
I went with a twin stick set up this time around. I bought the shafts and adjustable detents to go along with the shifter. I am very happy. I like the look and it shifts really clean and crisp. Unfortunately you have to take the transfer case out and pull it apart to switch out the selector shafts. (Sad face)

A lot of the Jeepster guys do the twin stick mod as well and seem to be real happy with it.

Re: Np205 rattling shifter fix???
Not trying to insult your intelligence, but make sure you have the NP205 in 2Hi, and not 4Hi. These two are right next to each other in the shift pattern and easy to confuse. If you are running in 4Hi by accident, the front driveshaft will be spinning and can cause vibration and noise in the case. I did this once and could not figure out where all the extra noise was coming from until I double checked the shifter and found I was in 4Hi instead of 2Hi.
