Patina just means rust..
I've seen older trucks 40s and earlier and it looks ok but later models it just means it wasn't taken care of.. |

^You sound like my mom, why don't you paint it it looks terrible! Lol I like rust/patina with a clean interior and excellent runner...up side to it most thieves look past it.

Re: Scored a original Patina 87 k5
It's an 87.. It's not a classic .. Would look a lot better with paint..
Like I said I can understand when you find something like a early 50's and earlier but something that is barely 30 years old that should still have some decent looking paint.. as far as theives our trucks aren't a hot commodity and more of a theft of opportunity not really something they are expecting to make a lot of money off.. |

To each their own. My '85 Burb has almost the same patina and I do call it that and love it. It gets plenty of looks and I like the way it looks. May not be for everyone but I get it.

The trucks that I've seen cleaned up with CLR then waxed lose most of the brown rust stains and you're left with something much cleaner. I want to see it cleaned up and waxed, I bet it'll look good.

I LOVE real Patina - and I think it looks great clear coated. Definitely clean it up and see how it looks from there. And maybe rotate the pics next time...

Re: Scored a original Patina 87 k5
I'm in the "love patina" camp as well.
My Burb has lost the paint in a few places, the clear coat is about gone and the tailgate paint is all crinkled up along with the dealer sticker. And it's going to stay that way. To the OP - If patina is what you like then keep it and enjoy it. You'll appreciate not having to worry about scratching the paint if you take it out wheeling. Let the naysayers spend their days with wax and a buffer while you're out cruising and enjoying a classic!

RDrancher, haven't seen you post in a while. Good to hear you still have the Burb.

Thanks Timber! Yeah, in a moment of weakness I put it up for sale but couldn't do it.
