Blazer Driver Side Seat Belt Retractor

Does anyone know why the truck and Blazer ones are different? See pics.

Cover and the mounting bracket are both different.

Is anyone running the truck retractors in their blazer? Do they mount the same even though the brackets are different?

Ok. I pieced together a set of parchment belts to go in my new interior and the driver retractor i got was from a truck. Going to have everything restored but don't want fitment issues down the road.

If no one else has concerns I'll move forward.

I would not worry about it. Especially since you don't have to match one for the passenger side.

Re: Blazer Driver Side Seat Belt Retractor

So the differences I posted are just based on what year your truck is?

There were like 3 or 4 different manufacturers sourced to produce the seat belts over the years. There are small differences in a lot of other seatbelt items made for these vehicles over the years. The manufacturer's name is printed on the tag that has the color and part number written on it.

I see that. Robbins and Irvin. That never bothered me. Just worried about the driver retractor. But seems it's not an issue.

The Pass. side is different because the Pass side seat swings forward to allow rear seat access. If GM used the same design on the Pass. side it would be in the way when getting in the back seat.
On my Pass side belt, the plastic is cut off where it tapers down. Looks factory to me.
