Headers on a 250
Hey I'm new on here I have a 68 gmc short bed with the original 250 and 3 on the tree this is engine I've ever played on so far I've rebuilt the carb and replaced the valve cover gasket but that's it the exhaust manifold is broken around one of the bolt holes and my uncle is giving me a set of short headers for it and I was just looking for some information on what would have to be done to switch from the manifold to headers

Re: Headers on a 250
you'll need new gaskets...and new exhaust pipe....when I put a header on mine many yrs ago one issue I ran into was the flange thickness of headers and intake were different....i had to custom make the clamps that clamp to the intake and header....

Re: Headers on a 250
I saw that there is a gasket in between the intake and the exhaust manifold and if you put headers on it there wouldn't be anything for the intake to bolt to is there some think that would have to be done about that or can it just be left alone thanks
