1958 Apache Step Side to Fleetside Conversion
I'm wondering if anybody can help me out with some info. I have a Stepside that I want to convert to a Fleetside. I already have a donor Fleetside bed and need to know if the rear axle (backing plate to backing plate) needs to be different from what was used for the Stepside? I would measure from plate to plate but I don't currently have the truck here with me....it's getting some minor rust repair. Just wondering if anyone else has done this and can share your experience. Thanks, Rob.

Same axle used for either truck. Bolt it on a go.

Re: 1958 Apache Step Side to Fleetside Conversion
I got my truck out of jail (metal/rust repair) this past weekend and placed the Fleetside bed on my stepside truck. It looks great. I had purchased the 8 rubber square pads and placed them on the frame...problem is they don't all line up with this bed where it makes contact. Would anybody be able to show me some pictures of the underside of their truck showing all of the contact points? I also found one round hockey puck like rubber spacer that I didn't know where it went but I noticed that the body lines between the bed and cab didn't line up until I put it under the bed frame support nearest the cab??? I really want to get this bed seur d so I can drive it this week....any help out there? Rob.
