Eaton HO52 ring/pinion parts interchange
My 72 k20 has an eaton rear with 4.10 gears and a locker. with 35" tires, it could use a slightly lower gear. I can get an eaton with 4.56 gears out of a 67 c20 for a decent price, would the gears work for my 72? I was hoping to be able to use the housing in the 72 k20 and build the gear set with the 4.56 gears and my locker.

Yes, you can use the center section from the C20 in yours. The locker is a bolt in process, you will have to pull the carrier to do it. As you pull it apart lay everything out in the order it comes out so you can put back the same way. Do you have another front axle geared to match or are you swapping gears in it?

Thanks for the info, im going to try and pick up that c20 axle for parts. I dont have another front, but the d44 i wasnt too worried about since parts are much easier to find. I figured i would get the rear setup first and buy a gear set to match for the front.

Hey Nitrosport,
How did you make out with installing the 4.57 gears in your truck? I currently have 4.57 gears in my truck. 1968 K20 on 35s. I'm asking because I have been considering changing my ratio to a 4.10 I would love to hear about your experience and if you are happier with the 4.57 gears in your truck Thanks!
