Separate wires for each clip? What do you mean?

well...as i've torn mine apart...i've noticed some wires are intertwined. So i was wondering if each pair, or 3 wires per connector were separated before routing and then combining wires to be wrapped.

You'll find a lot of them are intertwined. I would only take it as far apart as necessary to move whatever wires you think need to be in a different spot. You can take them all the way apart, but I wouldn't recommend it if this is your first time as it's probably the most problem inducing way to do it. I modified almost every wire in this harness, and have no idea how many hours I had in it, but lets just say it was a lot!

Yes, each wire was worked individually.

That's what I was thinking. I have about 4 hours in it so far....so I will break it down as I need while plugging stuff on engine.

Nova, that is one of my favorite set ups I've seen!! Old school look...but LS!! Nice work!!

Re: Custom reroute for reworked harness

Since people have been active on this thread...I have a question.

Running a TH350 behind the 5.3...can I eliminate the VSS wires?...or where would those connect to?

You can delete it. It's a matter of opinion on whether or not it will run "right" if you do. My opinion is that it does not.

As to where to connect the VSS wires if you decide to keep the connections, you need a VSS sensor that you can adapt to your trans. Companies like Dakota Digital sell VSS sensors that screw onto the speedometer output on the tail shaft.

Re: Custom reroute for reworked harness

It wont affect how the engine runs one bit, but what it will affect is driveability. Those are two different things. Without the speed sensor you will likley have stalling issues when coming to a quick stop, such as coming off a freeway exit ramp where you've been driving, say 65mph, then at the end of the ramp is a red light. Without the VSS the PCM wont realize you've come to that stop and wont compensate for the change quick enough. I found this out years ago when the VSS came unplugged on my old TPI and it began stalling. That was a way simpler system, things have only gotten more complex.

Re: Custom reroute for reworked harness

Guess I'll start another thread to ask that.

Here is my finished harness. Next time for MY car...I would do a few things different.
