Cleaning your windshield
I have a 79 c10 and every time i clean my windshield, it looks like my kids did it. I am looking for the best way to get this job done. How do you guys do this? I use winded and a microfiber.

Re: Cleaning your windshield
The best window cleaner is called Window-Glo made by Burco. It's only available at glass shops. It's a little pricey, but worth it.

Re: Cleaning your windshield
Try a clay bar. I have one but have not used it yet and plan to soon. I have read a lot of articles on this.

Re: Cleaning your windshield
somthing with amonia in it also if you can find it .
foaming action and let it sit till foam is about gone . also i have 2 fresh paper towels . 1 to wash with and 1 to dry for less chance of left over dry streeks . but if your class is old chances are its got lots of years of road grit sand blast action on it and it might be time for a new windshield replacement . but it seems kind of hard to find tint bar replacements last i looked .

Re: Cleaning your windshield
Good glass cleaner and newsprint. My dad did it for years and I have used it for over 50 years.

Re: Cleaning your windshield
Not to hijack the thread but my windshield has a streak on it that seems to be where the sweep of the passenger side wiper would be. No matter what I throw at it it never goes away. I can't feel it as to whether its on the inside or outside. Ive tried pb blaster, steel wool, windex, anything I can think of. Once the glass is dry it always returns. Any ideas?

Re: Cleaning your windshield
if you can run your nail over it and feel a ridge, then it's probably scarred. Happens when you leave your wiper blade for too long and it wears to the point the metal scrapes the glass. You can try polishing it or replacing the glass

Re: Cleaning your windshield
DIY window cleaner = vinegar + water 50/50.
DIY washer fluid = 1gal water + 1/2cup ammonia + 1TBSP dish soap.

Re: Cleaning your windshield
I used to do the vinegar & water thing for years. But not anymore. I love this stuff. I use the foam cleaner & the little blue rags. I also detail cars, so I use it on all the glass. It does not streak, at all!!
For stubborn stained & dirty glass, I use the polish first. https://www.griotsgarage.com/product...rPicks&from=fn https://www.griotsgarage.com/product...rPicks&from=fn

Re: Cleaning your windshield
I got 3 cans of spray foam window cleaner from Costco years ago and still have them. I use that with the soft blue shop towels on a roll after I wash and rinse the windows well. Don't get the Scott shop towels (those are like using a paper sack), but get the Tool Box brand made by Sellers. I think I got a pack of 6 rolls at Pep Boys for the best price the last time I bought them. If you don't get them too dirty you can hang them out to dry and use them over a time or two.

Re: Cleaning your windshield
Some AutoZone & AdvanceAuto Stores sell a few items of Griots. But check out the website, they have a lot of products. They ship pretty fast too. When I order something, it comes within 2 days.

Re: Cleaning your windshield
Whatever you use do not use in direct sun light, three steps- wet, wipe it off clean with a thick microfiber. Use a missed a low strained microfiber re-do the window. Then a dry low strained microfiber. Then then do two steps for Rain-X it helps keep the window cleaner longer + makes the easier to see in rain if your caught in it.
