Re: Rear Sliding Glass Gasket?
Far as I know they do. Took out a stock window years ago and added a slider into the same gasket. If the slider is meant for your truck, then my guess it is the same gasket.

Re: Rear Sliding Glass Gasket?
I was wondering this myself, last week, as I started fitting my Craigslist-find slider into the window gasket I bought a month or
two ago. It all went in like normal, except I could push harder on the aluminum slider frame when installing it into the truck than I would have on a piece of glass.

Re: Rear Sliding Glass Gasket?
some sliders use specific gasket . most sliders have the lip on them to use stock glass gasket .
if the outside of the slider were it sits in the gasket has no center mohawk rib then its required to use specific gasket . if it has the mohawk rib then it should use a stock glass gasket .

Re: Rear Sliding Glass Gasket?
I had a slider and replaced it with a non slider. I used the same gasket.

Re: Rear Sliding Glass Gasket?
Reason for my question is I found a slider up the barn in my Chevy parts stash from yrs ago. I would like to use it on my M1009 pickup cab top install. The Frankintruck I am building for grand son will get a new one.
sweetK30 I will look at the one I have & see which type I have. Thanks |

Re: Rear Sliding Glass Gasket?
All the sliding windows that I've seen over the years that reuse the non sliding window factory gasket are after market replacement windows. A good indication that you may have a after market replacement window is they stick out away from the back of the cab. The reason for that is the after market replacement sliding windows have a rim around the center on the frame that fits in the factory non slider gasket that is the same thickness as the standard non sliding glass windows.
All the factory sliding windows that I've seen fit flush against the back of the cab and use a wider black rubber gasket. They were this way from 1973-1983 and the frames were gray aluminum color during these model years. 1984 the factory sliders switched to black frames and used a black rubber seal with a chrome strip in the center that matched the chrome strip like the one that surrounded the windshield gasket on the upper trim levels. Lower trim levels just got a black strip in the center of the gasket in 1984 -1987 IIRC.

Re: Rear Sliding Glass Gasket?
OK I looked at the slider that's in the '84 cab (That I busted two windows outta) & it is a factory black frame slider.
And the one in the barn is a slider w/ some plastic inserts in each end to give it a slight curve to fit the cab & the flanges look to be about 3/16" wide so a factory solid glass gasket should work. Thanks for the help! |
