No pictures, but just ordered the longbed to shortbed conversion kit that Brothers offers. Going to be ordering the shortbed sheet metal and everything from LMC on Monday.

Cut the rotted roof off and welded the new donor roof on.

Bonus: I also upgraded to a big back window!

Tap, tap, tack weld, tap, tap, tack weld, rinse repeat.

First skim coat sanded.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part IV

I replace the mid seat windows and felts but apparently the aftermarket power window motors are too weak to move the windows. Fortunately, there was a great mod on here using ‘91 motors and a custom bracket. I think that’ll be next. Another thread helped with getting the windows installed. This place is invaluable!

...oops that was in my the Burb not PU

Hey JDM63,
Is that B/C on the cab? If so what color are you using? I kinda like the look.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part IV

Took a little history lesson on Frankentruck today. 1000 grit wetsand to uncover the lettering on the door. I'm fairly certain that this door is not original to the truck, but it is cool to see where it came from

Re: What did you do to your truck today part IV

Nothing exciting for me. Just fixing things. Replaced the front tires the first week of the month. Signals are working, jerry-rigged, but working all the same. Replaced the old back-up light and it works! I'm going to add that to my trailer lights and add backup lights on the Spartanette and Terry. I was thinking that the '66 Chevy-type backup lights would look nice on the back of the Spartanette. I think the bed is going to be 1" plywood and rhino liner. Replaced the plastic nuts in the headlamp buckets with some off the 'bay. So much nicer now that they can be adjusted. They're still a bit low, but that can be corrected. The old man is running so much better now. I have to get some ZDDP and change the oil next.

After replacing the right backup light I found the lens broken just an hour later. Shattered, actually. I do believe it's against the rules to relate what I said when seeing that... I was thinking that perhaps the 'gate chain's hook slapped it when I opened the 'gate. Will have to be more careful from now on. Anyone else run into that issue?

Re: What did you do to your truck today part IV

About a month ago I was moving the defrost lever to get the air to the winshield and the 58 yrs old pot metal lever finally have up the ghost.......the darn nerve of GMC not making them to last.

I did some research and found that Old Factory Air makes replacements out of steel, appropriately titled "No Pop Levers", I order a set. They come with the 3 levers, spacers, press on nuts, and new handles. They installed like a dream. I also lubicated the remote wire sleeves so they would slide easier. A simple but needed upgrade.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part IV

Would that be this kit? Well, along this line anyway as yours is a '60-'61 and mine is a '66.
https://www.oldairproducts.com/produ...6625-lever-kit

Two of my three work and the third is gone completely. Unfortunately, that one is the lever running the fan.

Ah, they have the switch. However it doesn't look like a plug-n-play situation as the switch doesn't look like it mounts in that little dash console. It kinda looks to be cable operated somehow as there's no knob on it. Okay... this is going to take some figuring out. It sure would be nice to have the heater working this winter!

Not as much as some of you guys. But I did get some parts in for relocating the fuel tank to the back. 1987 Chevy van tank, 1991 van fuel pump hanger assembly and straps to hold it in.

The switch is operated by the bottom lever with the funny cuttout. Free air and fan are on the same lever.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part IV

Found the rattle in my upper door above the weatherstrip channel. Damn mud dobber wasp nest. Problaby been in there for decades and just recently broke loose. Good thing it was abandoned...I would have freaked out if I was rolling down the road with a cab full of those s.o.b's flying around!
