47-55.1 Wilwood master cylinder, does this look right??????? - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Gentlemen, in my never ending quest to get my brakes to work I ordered a new Wilwood MC. I noticed the exit ports on the MC are off center to the reducer fitting for the brake line fitting. Does this look right. Seems to me the reducer fitting will block off the hole where the fluid exits the MC.

No, it doesn't. I would send that photo to Wilwood and let them know.

I dont think your fitting will bottom out in the hole...measure it and see..if it doesn't bottom out there will be a void between them......

I'm not trying to argue with you Mongo at all when I say this, so please do not take it as such. Even if the fitting doesn't bottom out, that hole is still drilled wrong. My Wilwood had the outlet holes centered, in the m/c.

Paintman. I would question that too. See what they say. That would rattle around in my head always wondering if it was right or wrong.

You won't get any arguement from me...I'll agree that it doesn't look right..actually looks like like crap...hard to believe something like that could get past QC if its wrong....but I've also seen some questionably designed stuff from wilwood as of late..
I'd sure be curious to see what wilwood says.....

Mongo is correct, the fitting won't bottom out and you will be fine. Mine was the same way and here's a stock Wilwood photo showing the offset holes.

I do agree it looks strange, not sure why they're made that way.

Perhaps to draw more from reservoir side and alleviate any possible sediment, because they can. Not that sediment would/should be present.

It was harder to see the hole position in the 1st pics but now that I see Jeb's pic it's easy to see that it's to keep from trapping air in the void ....

It also should at least in theory to keep air from being trapped in the cylinder bore.

My ongoing truck projects: 48 Chev 3100 that will run a 292 Six. 71 GMC 2500 that is getting a Cad 500 transplant. 77 C 30 dualie, 454, 4 speed with a 10 foot flatbed and hoist. It does the heavy work and hauls the projects around.
