5.3 level sensor a quart low or right.

I am tearing a 02 truck 5.3 down to the short block here over the next few weeks. Just replacing the seals and a couple sensors before throwing it in.

My headers are going up so that level sensor will be exposed and easily seem. Planning on just blocking it off. But was thinking about drilling/welding a straight or 99 to the blockoff plug and having a sight tube eliminating the dipstick completely.

I have a clear tube from granger made for oil and 350F that I used on a sbc modifying a 4qt pan and eliminated the dipstick on that engine. I would like to do the same on this 5.3.

If the oil level sensor is a quart low I could install a 90 to the correct height marking the tube if need be. If it is correct then I will go straight out then 90 up letting me see that oil is up to the right level in the clear section of tube before the 90.

The 90 will have a tube going up to the catch can letting me open a ball valve and drain that contents back into the oil pan.

I am guessing it is a quart low. But i want to make sure.

im not even sure how you can see it...I cant see mine...but I see you say you headers are going up......and I don't know about the tube idea...id be scared a rock would fly up and bust it...dipstick works just fine for me.. my vett pan has a nice screw in plug in there though
