Re: 67-72 Gen V LT engine swap mounts
Thanks for the reply, I appreciate it.
The L83/L86 truck pan hits the frame crossmember. For some reason the factory oil pan has a larger than normal front sump area. I would recommend the Holley 302-20 hands down. It maintains the factory cast rigidity of the OEM pan. |

Re: 67-72 Gen V LT engine swap mounts
Those mounts are the way to go!
I started on my L83 / 72 C10 swap before these were available and realized the problem of the stock truck oilpan hitting the front crossmeber. I cut pretty deep into my crossmember until it did fit, then spent way too much time welding in more steel and boxing it back together to keep it strong. I used the dirty dingo L83 adapters to work with the sbc motor mounts. They wouldn't allow space for the vacuum pump. Plus, The factory oil pan fit, but it still hung down too low for my liking. Then, frustrated with a pieced together set up, I happened to see the weld in style Metaltek L83 mounts on eBay. These gave me a much cleaner look. I also changed over to the Holley pan and got all the ground clearance I needed. The point is, save your time and money and buy the new Metaltek motor mounts and transmission crossmember DESIGNED for our trucks. Plus, the other guys making them are nearly 200. bucks more. Good job Jaime at Metaltek!

Re: 67-72 Gen V LT engine swap mounts
Can you give more description on the adjustability if ther is any? Is the drop on the trans cross member lower than the bottom frame rail?

Re: 67-72 Gen V LT engine swap mounts
Hello Daaanz67,
The plates that bolt to the engine are slider style. They give you just over an inch of front to back movement. The frame mounting portion of the mounts bolt in to the factory mounting holes. The transmission crossmember is even with the bottom of the frame rail. These mounts with the crossmember are set to the proper driveline angle. These do allow the use either stock manifolds or the Speed Engineering c10 lt headers. Thank you for your interest, Jaime |

Looks good! Does the factory AC and/or Alternator clear?
Can you post some more pics? |
