Fuel tank relocation question

I'm wanting to do a fuel tank relocation to a 61 GMC short bed step. The only kit I can see online for the 60-62 is a welded alloy one with a bed fill. What have others out there used or can the 63-66 kits be easily modified to fit?

Thanks for that, I'd found the conversion thread using the search function but not the others. Any idea what the difference is between the frame rails on the 60-62 vs 63-66.

There are people on this site who have the frame dimensions info, I do not. If they see this thread your golden. If not keep bumping it.

The difference is 60-62 are 8” wider than 63-66

I believe it’s 34” and 42” but I’m not sure if that is outside or inside measurement

Those are the outside frame rail measurements. The '63-'72 frames have room for a tank 26.5-27" wide inside the rear frame rails.

Thanks for that, I've got a '60 with an under bed tank but I can't for the life of me figure out what its from.

Good to know that the 61 will have a little more wiggle room to fit a tank than the '63.

I've tried to talk to some of these guys about the french door access. Then i ask why can't you fill from Both sides of the tanks you know what hassle it is when your running on empty and every one4 is on the driver side is full. But if you had a french door on either side of your truck it would make filling your truck so much more easier. To me it would solve most of your problems at the Pump.
