1964 camper
Attachment 1918292I’m going to look at this camper and need some help putting a value on it. Says it’s got 60,000 original miles on it, factory air on a 292 inline six with power brakes. Seat is in very nice shape. Cab is clean as well as the camper. What is a reasonable offer for a camper like this?

Re: 1964 camper
I see a little water damage in one corner, is that about it for damage? Is the roof good? not water stained? If I had the $$$ I'd go to 10K but maybe I'm biased because I really like it. Cool that it has factory air on a 292 and the body looks really nice.

Re: 1964 camper
It has a very very straight and rust free body. The seat is like new yet and the water damage in the corner is all there is. They had it resealed two or three years ago, other than when it was in use it’s been inside. He’s owned it since 1999 and right after he bought it he took it to Alaska and back. Very nice unit though. Camper isn’t perfect but it’s also 50 years old. But it is a 64 c20, one of the cleanest I’ve seen

Re: 1964 camper
I also saw the ad for this Camper, I feel his asking price is a lot lower than it is actually worth. I feel to offer any less would be lowballing the guy more than he is already lowballing himself.

Re: 1964 camper
A very similarly equipped 1965 Dreamer camper sold a couple years ago on Ebay for decent money. That one had some light automotive celebrity history attached to it and was overall pretty original and sparkly. Your subject camper might not be that far off, given some serious TLC.

Re: 1964 camper
Nice find, super clean, low mileage and well optioned survivor. Is it a C 20 or 30?

Re: 1964 camper
Got it bought and drove it home today. I appreciate everyone’s help on it, it is a 20 series, very very solid. Ran like a top all the way home, hour drive st 60 mph and didn’t miss a beat. I’m going to clean the engine off and rebuild the carb and put new gaskets on the push rod covers and valve cover. Someone repainted the valve cover at some point and it’s falling off so may blast it and re shoot it Detroit green and a new 292 sticker. Anyone have a good picture of a factory air cleaner for one of these?

Re: 1964 camper
Congratulations. Being a C 20 makes the deal even more sweeter for a future regular 8 ft box conversion. You may even have the optional 4,11 ratio in the 20 where as a C 30 would have came with the 5.13's. Another bonus is the back of the cab was not cut out for walk thru access to the camper. Again, nice find, most pickups used as work trucks will never match the quality of a low mileage pickup used as an RV. Standard air cleaner on 292's is the same housing used on V8's.

Re: 1964 camper
Looks like a great find. In the cab, have you looked under the period "sculpted" carpet to see if the original floor mat is there. I bet it is, and like new.
Not sure how YOU feel, but It seems the chassis mounted camper idea is now teetering between awful and awesome. Give it some time and it'll tip toward the latter. Just wait and see. |

Re: 1964 camper
Oh man you nailed it on the mat. I haven’t had an extra hand to lift it all the way off and wipe it down to keep it hydrated but it’s in great shape.
