side moulding, Mar-K vs. ClassicParts.com
I'm looking at buying a 67-68 side moulding kit. The price deference between Mar-K and Classic Parts is $371.55 before shipping.
Does anyone have experience with these two trim packages? If they are both polished aluminum, I can't imagine the material being much different. If it were chrome I realize chrome can be very different. The next question is, how well does it fit? Thanks. |

Re: side moulding, Mar-K vs. ClassicParts.com
I have decided to go against the rules and get some good undented pieces. For the pieces I cannot get I will hammer and dolly them back into shape.
I want my truck to still look like a truck, with aging but up to par. For me too much aftermarket shiny stuff takes away from the look unless I am doing a full resto. Its a truck, I want it to have character, be clean and trouble free. Someone told me even the top of the line stuff leaves something to be desired. He showed me what he was talking about. It did not look right on his build. I am sure it could have been modified or sent back but for what you pay, to me, it had better be damn perfect or better. |

Re: side moulding, Mar-K vs. ClassicParts.com
I have a box of side molding from Mar-K here waiting to be put on after I get the truck back from paint (almost 9 months now, but who's counting). I can snap some pics of the molding if that helps. Let me know....

I have mar-k stuff for my tailgate in the box yet.
Their shipping was a painful experience. Order the stuff online then get a phone call the next morning, Oh were sorry the shipping is this much more. Hope the juice was worth the squeeze.

Did my whole 72 super with a eight foot bed with mar-k. Could not be more happy with it. You get back what you put into it. Do it once and do it right.

Re: side moulding, Mar-K vs. ClassicParts.com
I have Mar-k, top notch stuff. I found that the best way and most cost efficient, was to wait for a sale at Brothers Trucks. It was cheap to by Mar-K Trim from Brother than it was direct from Mar-K. Then it’s just drop shipped from Mar-K to my door. Don’t know if Brother still sells Mar-K trim, but what I did was call and straight up ask them before ordering.

Re: side moulding, Mar-K vs. ClassicParts.com
I'm assuming that both Classicparts.com and Mar K are aluminum. It does say on the Mar K site that their product is anodized aluminum. Which would make it superior to non anodized.
I had no Idea that Brother's product may be made by Mar K, I'll call on monday to confirm becouse their price is better than the Mar K site. |

Confirmed, the moulding kits that Brother's is selling is the MAR-K product.
I bought the 67-68 complete kit off of Brother's site for $314.06 less than the Mar-K site with shipping calculated on both orders. |

Re: side moulding, Mar-K vs. ClassicParts.com
Don’t be surprised if you get mixed and matched trim. Brothers told me I too would get Mar-K trim, and I got re-packaged Counterparts brand. If their price is that much lower I’d be VERY wary. It worked out fine but they pulled a bait and switch on me, same as their weatherstripping. I was told Precision would be what I’d get...again got an off brand. Then I was told they use “many different suppliers” and I may or may not get Precision This is why I no longer buy from Brothers.

Re: side moulding, Mar-K vs. ClassicParts.com
Not sure how much this helps, but everything looks good, no nicks/dents/scratches/etc. Nice touch to put a piece of wood in the box for protection. I did buy direct from Mar-K when they had a sale. I guess you could conclude that the Mar-K product is very good, but I have no idea how the less expensive other brands match up.

Re: side moulding, Mar-K vs. ClassicParts.com
I ordered my 67-69 Mar-K trim at the end of may when they were having a sale...I got 20% off because I ordered some other things and my order was over $1000 made the base price of the trim kit $777.20 the shipping was high in my opinion since I'm not that far from Oklahoma city and shipping was $127 however I did get bed strips and tailgate trim and some bolts also...
