This is true. I suspect there's a couple reasons. GM definitely had the brand loyalty thing and reputation down pat after decades of truck production. 1st gen Tundras came out in 2000, offering up their first V8 in their pickups. I don't think many trusted it, being Toyota's 1st real consumer-level V8 on the market, that's gotta be a hard sell. The issues they had with frame rot in the first 3 years didn't help, neither the total recall to follow. They corrected it in 2004, but it bit them in the tail on the trust front.

But on the flip side, I definitely see more Tacomas on the road than I do 1st gen Canyon/Colorados. It could be due to my locale though. Stats show they've been outselling the Sierra pretty consistently. Silverado still beats it. (Actually - nope, looked at the numbers, 8x more Tacomas selling than Canyon/Colorado and 3x more tundras)

Sadly, Ford is crushing all of them. Ford nearly sells more trucks each year than all of GMs brands combined. Almost 3x more than all of Toyota's trucks combined.

But I still love every GM Truck I've owned far more, won't catch me dead in a FERD

Even my 2003 Silverado LT is missing some options my Denali has. I put a GMC front end on the Silverado anyways, truck was a great deal i could not pass up, and I had most of the parts anyways from said junk Denali.

The Denali has it all doesnt it? I am going to try and find a GMC SLT as it is the one that has the intregated braking for a trailer the most ..

Just like our old 71-72 Chevies and GMC's switch em up with front ends a lot.

The Denali has a few things the LT does not, power adjust pedals, leather trim on the door card instead of cloth. Small differences. The Silverado also has the integrated trailer brake wiring, I just had to buy a $10 harness to connect my controller and done! Was pretty happy about that.

My Nephew is a MR. Goodwrench and he calls GMC a "Gay Man's Chevy"!
I think he says that to me because I favor GMC! No Respect!!
