Help with guages
I am restoring the guage cluster on my 66. I am using Astronauts thread which is great but I was wondering how to clean the actual guages themselves. Like the electronics, behind the faceplates?
soft brush and some type of solvent? Any advice?

Re: Help with guages
I did not use any solvent, but mine weren't real dirty. I just used my air hose lightly and blew the dust off. I don't remember what pressure I used though. I was afraid a solvent may hurt them more than dirt and dust, but if someone has used something I would love to know too.

Re: Help with guages
I was using some 91% rubbing alcohol to wipe off the dust on mine, and it did not damage the paint or anything like that. It worked pretty good for me and I didn't ruin the cardboard around the bulbs inside

Re: Help with guages
I just use a little contact cleaner on the contacts and light air on the rest. The wires on the gauges are very small and can be broken easily. A q tip works well with a little windex to get the back of the faces if needed.
