Capt Kaos crossmember
I got my mod'd crossmember from Capt Kaos this evening. Excellent work quality, nice and clean welds, good communication, and quick turnaround (he finished when he said he'd be done. These days that gets a WOW!).
Now, to get it on the truck...

what are your plans for tire clearance on the fenders? I would like to do a crossmember but with the 20s up front i already cut an inch or so out of the fender.

Were I to go with a bigger tire I'd run into trouble with the hinge and the bottom of the firewall.

I got my Suburban layed out on 20's using Capt's crossmember method. If you go this low you have to hinge the hood somewhere else and cut a lot of fender out. It sure looks awesome though!!!!!!!!!

ghettocrewzer, I saw your suburban at Greenville. What else have you done to the suspension. By the way it looks killer. Also what are you doing for hinges?

The suspension is just bagged with upper plate no lower cup, raised crossmember 1.5" Capt's method, rebuilt outer tierods for clearance, and rebuilt steering shaft to clear upper control arm. On the hood I'm using Buick Lesabre front flip hinge, just modifying to work with the truck hood. Also putting '67 hood on '72 frontend....... Should of holla'd at me at Greenville, I love discussing these old trucks and customs in general.

BTW, anyone interested in getting this done... Capt Kaos quoted me a fair price, let me know when he received my crossmember. Sent me progress pics a few times (which clearly showed he was actually working on it). Then let me know when it shipped. The only thing he didn't do that I was hoping for was to fly out and install the thing
